Center Chain Lakes
Over the last five years, significant enhancements have been made to the Center Chain Lakes Natural Area showcasing a commitment to continual improvement. The Lacombe Fish and Game has played a pivotal role, contributing wholly to essential upgrades such as the installation of outhouses, a shower house, garbage cans and maintenance of the hall and cabins. Their dedicated efforts have also led to extensive gravel and dirt work throughout the property and down to the lake. This ensures the road and parking areas remain accessible throughout every season.
A walking trail now borders the perimeter of both the upper and lower banks of the lake access property, also maintained by the LFGA. The ample parking space is well-equipped for launching boats of all types, catering to diverse recreational interests.
Throughout the year, the site hosts an array of activities, accommodating church groups, and a summer youth Conservation Education Camp (held every July). The area sees constant traffic from fishing enthusiasts year-round. With the ongoing improvements, the popularity and utilization of this space have seen a commendable rise from 2020-2023. Even during the winter months, the lake transforms into a hub for ice fishing, thanks to well-maintained and clear roads that prioritize safe access for all. The commitment to regular upgrades and maintenance remains steadfast, ensuring that this haven continues to be enjoyed to its fullest potential for many years to come

Youth Fishing Day
Each June (usually the first Saturday) the Lacombe Fish & Game Association organizes the Youth Fishing Day at the Len Thompson Trout Pond in Lacombe. Fishing instruction is provided for all participants, and fishing gear is available for use by those without their own.
Youth have a blast catching fish and also helping release fish into the pond from the Smoky Trout Farm. They also enjoy refreshments supplied by our co-sponsor the Lacombe Co-op in English Estates, as well as taking home a free fishing lure from Len Thompson Lures.
