The Lacombe Fish & Game Association was honored by the Alberta Wildlife Federation, formerly Alberta Fish and Game Association, at the AGM awards night.
The construction of the all access dock at the Len Thompson fishing pond was a huge undertaking and as a result, Lacombe was awarded the Neville Lindsay Menorial Award for the club completing the best fisheries project. Along with that award, we were also awarded the George E. Wyatt Award for the club that makes the highest financial contribution or raises the most funds towards fish and wildlife projects, habitat enhancement or donates such funds to organizations that do that type of work. Accepting the awards tonight was LFGA President, Brad Pallister. Congratulations all members of the Lacombe Fish and Game Association for your hard work, fundraising and dedication to making the all-access dock a reality. The Lacombe Fish and Game Association is excited to share the news of a significant donation to the Len Thompson Trout Pond from Wolf’s Botanical and the Hainzmann Family. After finishing a dinner together in late June, the Hainzmann family visited the pond together to view the new fully accessible dock and other improvements to the park. They all agreed that the new dock was an amazing addition to the already popular fishing pond, but the area could use some trees to help beautify the park. They proactively approached the Lacombe Fish and Game Association and City of Lacombe with the idea of this donation, and it was eagerly accepted with great thanks.
Two weeks ago, a crew from Wolf’s completed this landscaping project that added 25 large trees to five new tree beds, and three existing tree beds. It will be a fantastic addition to an already rapidly improving fishing pond. On behalf of the pond’s many users, the Lacombe Fish and Game Association would like to extend their thanks for this fantastic addition! On Saturday, June 3, 2023, the Lacombe Fish & Game celebrated the grand opening of the new fully accessible dock at the Len Thompson Pond. The annual Kids Can Catch Day was a huge success and included a BBQ, fish release by Smoky Trout Farm, face painting and of course, fishing.
Our annual Kids Can Catch event was a huge success on June 4th. Thank you everyone who came out to enjoy the event. We were so happy to see so many old friends and meet new people. Thank you to the folks from all of the companies who donated and attended the event. It was through your generous donations that we were able to provide rods, food and hooks to all of the kids.
