Provides financial support for students pursuing careers in conservation, environmental sciences, wildlife management, or similar fields.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Should be a resident of Lacombe or Lacombe County, must be a resident of Alberta.
• Residents of Lacombe or Lacombe County may apply with no direct connection to LFGA.
• Residents outside of Lacombe or Lacombe County may apply as long as they have been a member of, or have a parent or grandparent that has been, a LFGA member for minimum of 2 years.
• Must be a high school senior accepted into a post-secondary institution OR currently enrolled in a post-secondary program.
• Preference given to students studying conservation, environmental sciences, biology, forestry, fish and wildlife, or outdoor education.
• Must demonstrate active participation in conservation efforts or outdoor-related initiatives.
Application Requirements:
• Completion of Online Application Form by March 1st of each year.
• Personal Statement (500 max) – Passion for conservation and how this bursary will support future goals.
• Letter of Recommendation – From a teacher, professor, or mentor.
• Academic Transcript – Demonstrating academic performance.
• Resume or List of Activities – Showcasing community service, outdoor projects, leadership, or conservation efforts.
Award Amount:
• Up to two $1000 post-secondary scholarships awarded annually (paid directly to the post-secondary institution).
• Applications will be evaluated by a committee appointed by the LFGA board. The committee members will make a recommendation to the board for successful recipients based on a pre-established rating system.
