INFORMATION COPIED FROM ALBERTA.CA: Starting June 1, a Public Lands Camping Pass is required to random camp on public land along the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky Mountains from Grande Prairie to Waterton Lakes National Park. Campers 18 years and older must buy a pass. $20 per person for a 3-day pass $30 per person for an annual pass $3.25 system-processing fee plus GST per transaction. A one-time Wildlife Identification Number (WIN) purchase is required to access the system ($8, but with a $2 discount if purchased online). COPIED FROM THE ALBERTA FISH & GAME ASSOCIATION FACEOOK PAGE: Attn AFGA mule deer hunters, the Alberta Environment and Parks Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) surveillance program, is looking for volunteers to participate in a pilot program for the 2021-2022 season. This pilot project aims to instruct deer hunters on how to collect tissue samples for CWD testing. https://www.alberta.ca/alberta-firearms-advisory-committee.aspx On April 16, the Len Thompson Pond was stocked with 2850 Rainbow Trout and 1150 Tiger Trout. This is the first season Tiger Trout have been stocked in Lacombe. The Alberta Conservation Association recently approved a grant application for pond improvements at the East Trout Pond in Lacombe in 2021. This lesser known pond is located behind the Lacombe Police Station. The plans include the installing aeration for a healthier year-round fish habitat. Casting platforms will also be built and a foot bridge to allow anglers to walk the full perimeter of the pond. Although the City of Lacombe has plans to improve access to the Pond, the best way to access currently is to park your vehicle on 53 Avenue and walk in via the land located between the Lacombe Police Station and Agrai-Dairy Mart. Ltd.  The Lacombe City Council has approved a $3,000/yr five-year sponsorship of the Alberta Conservation Association's (ACA) fish stocking program at the Len Thompson Fish Pond Park.  |
